Industries Served and Common Coated Parts

Midwest Coatings offers a variety of bulk-coating, spray-coat & electrostatic processes, as well as proprietary processes which serves many industries which include (though not limited to):  aerospaceagriculturalautomotive, constructionfood processingindustrial/commercial, and military/DOD industries.  Some of the common and / or unique parts for these industries are categorized and defined below:

  Aerospace / Aviation aerospace industry

Exotic alloy materials, high order of reliability, extreme operating conditions, and extended self-life characterize the aerospace and/or aviation industry.  Many of these pieces may include:

  • Aerospace Couplers;
  • Aircraft Seat Frames;
  • Aircraft Tray Tables;
  • Guidance Fins;
  • Fuser Rollers;
  • Clamshells;
  • Flanges;
  • Retainer Rings;
  • Missile Components; etc.

  Agriculture / Farm Equipment agricultural industry

Corrosion-resistant materials, high order of reliability, extreme operating conditions, and extended self-life characterize the agricultural industry.  Agricultural equipment consists of farm field and farmstead machinery used for the production of crops and agricultural livestock.  Many of these pieces may include:

  • Agricultural equipment involved with farm field and farmstead machinery used for the production of crops and agricultural livestock.
  • Major product lines which include wheel and track-laying tractors;
  • Planting and fertilizing machinery, tillage equipment, fertilizer and chemical application equipment;
  • Harvesting machinery, haying and mowing machinery;
  • Milking machines and other farm dairy equipment, poultry equipment, barnyard equipment;
  • Sprayers and Irrigation equipment, grain dryers and blowers, commercial turf and grounds care equipment, and/or parts for farm machinery.

  Automotive / Transportationautomotive industry

We have 25+ years of experience with applying Cr(VI)-free approved coatings to meet Automotive & Transportation specifications.  Automobiles, trucks and vehicles are exposed to harsh environments, and the vehicle sub-assemblies and moving parts require life-time lubrication & corrosion protection.

Parts/pieces for manual dip-spin and/or spray applications can include (though not limited to):
  • Threaded & non-threaded fasteners;
  • Precision automotive springs (i.e. tension, compression, clock, extension, etc.);
  • Retainer / Clip pads (i.e. slipper spring pads);
  • Bearings, Brackets, Gears, Valves, Washers;
  • Latches and/or Lock devices/mechanisms (i.e. ratchets or pawls);
  • and other moving and/or latching devices.
Other parts/pieces which don't lend themselves well to large conveyorized automated-commercial dip-spin lines can include (though not limited to):
  • Brake System and/or Safety Parts (i.e. retainer pads, clip pads, or slipper spring pads)
  • Precision Springs (i.e. tension, compression, clock, extension, etc.)
Careful consideration should be given to pieces and/or parts which are pliable and have stress-relief characteristics which can be damaged during automated-commercial dip-spin line processing, and should be avoided at all costs!

  Construction / Heavy Equipment construction industry

Corrosion-resistant materials, high order of reliability, extreme operating conditions, and extended self-life characterize the agricultural industry.  Some of these pieces include:

  • Pre-cut cylindrical rods;
  • Pre-welded hinge pins;
  • and many other pieces

  Food Processing food processing industry

We have 25+ years experience of applying FDA 21.CFR compliant coatings for food contact.  Each of these coatings offer different functional characteristics.  These characteristics include durability, non-stick / release, high operating temperatures, chemical resistance, superior functionality in hot greasy environments, etc.  There are other dry film lubricants that can be used in functional areas in the food processing industry such as on sprockets, bearings, chains, etc.  These are bonded fluorocarbons, graphite, molybdenum disulfide, tungsten disulfide, etc.  These can offer great advantage in service life and reduced maintenance costs.

Contact one of our technical/sales coating engineers Toll Free at (855) 878-9636 to inquire of our current coating recommendations to help guide you in your decision and find the best & most cost effective solution for your specific application.  We will answer your questions directly and/or provide an immediate answer to your question in short-time.

  Industrial / Commercial industrial products

Coatings can be applied to threaded & non-threaded fasteners, springs, brackets, valves, gears, bearings, lock mechanisms, latch surfaces, electrical/mechanical solenoid plunger assemblies, and other moving devices used in the manufacture of industrial and commercial products.  Coatings are applied to reduce abrasion or wear, lower friction, reduce noise / squeak issues, dampen vibration, provide non-stick / release, eliminate seizing and/or galling, etc.

  Military / DOD Military / Dept. of Defense

We have 25+ years of coating process experience of applying approved coatings to meet Military / DOD specifications.  Similar to the automotive industry, all-terrain wheeled & track vehicles are exposed to harsh environments, and the vehicle sub-assemblies and moving parts require life-time lubrication, corrosive & abrasive protection.
